“Kathleen has helped me to reframe some of my beliefs about my divorce and ex-husband. I have liked that she has given me some homework and reading material to compliment our sessions.”
Empowered Client-
Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started-
Therapy is a licensed clinical service I can provide for Colorado residents only, grounded in the therapeutic relationship and aimed at the deeper patterns, wounds, and mental health concerns. Coaching, available to clients outside Colorado, is a forward-facing partnership focused on growth, direction, and pattern change. It draws on the same depth of presence but is not psychotherapy and is not a substitute for licensed mental health care.

If you're not sure, that's exactly what the Free Fit Call is for. We'll talk about what you're navigating, and I'll help you figure out which path actually fits, not just which one you assume you should choose. Or, if you’re eager to get started and choose to schedule a session based on what resonates with you, I will email you an assessment to ensure we are on the appropriate path.
-
It's a 15 to 30 minute, no-cost Zoom conversation to see if we're a good match. We'll talk about what's bringing you here, answer your questions, and decide together whether to move forward, and if so, whether therapy or coaching is the better starting point. We’ll also cover logistics, such as fees, scheduling, confidentiality, and the practice policies.
-
Yes. You'll need complete a brief intake assessment along with the informed consent and disclosure statement (for therapy) or the coaching agreement (for coaching). These need to be completed online and returned at least 24 hours before your first pre-paid session to hold your appointment. Unfortunately, for ethical reasons, I cannot keep your appointment if you do not fill out your paperwork in this time frame. Refunds for appointments canceled for this reason are not available.
Therapy Specific-
No. This is a private-pay practice. I don't bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill upon request if your plan offers out-of-network reimbursement. I also offer a sliding-scale fee option for those interested, please inquire.
-
Yes, HSA and FSA cards are accepted for therapy services.
-
My work is integrative, drawing from attachment, existential-humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral theories, along with Jungian psychology. I'm trauma and polyvagal-informed and bring in somatic, internal family systems, and feminist concepts throughout. You can read more about my practice framework on the Approach page.
-
No. I'm licensed in Colorado, so therapy is only available to Colorado residents. If you're located outside the state, coaching may be a better fit, or I'm happy to help you find a licensed therapist where you live.
Fit and Scope-
I work with women navigating codependency, self-abandonment, over-functioning, and complex relational patterns, through both therapy and coaching, depending on your location and needs. I also specialize in boundaries and assertiveness skill-building.
I have over a decade of experience helping clients with: low self-esteem, social and relationship anxiety, anxious attachment, rumination and hyper-vigilance, life transitions, body image issues, emotional eating/intuitive eating, intuitive self-care, recovery from breakups and divorce, dating, supporting loved ones with mental health issues and addiction, grief, and creating fulfilling relationships and meaningful, purposeful lives.
-
My work is post-stabilization and depth-oriented, not crisis intervention or trauma stabilization. While I work with women navigating CPTSD, EMDR is also outside my scope. If your needs fall within the crisis or stabilization categories, I'll help you find the right referral.
-
I'll let you know directly, and I'll provide referrals to other providers or resources better suited to support you. This isn't a reflection of you or your needs. It's part of making sure you get the right care.
-
No. This practice does not provide crisis intervention. If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental health emergency, please reach out to one of the following resources:

General Community Resources. Dial 211 to reach United Way's 211 helpline, available in most of the United States. This service can connect you with local resources including emergency shelter, food assistance, and other community support.

When I say I work with women, I mean anyone who claims that word for themselves: cis women, trans women, nonbinary and genderfluid people, women of every age, race, body, orientation, faith, and stage of life. The concerns I help clients with show up across all of those lines, and so does the need to return home to yourself.
Near the Wild Hedge is a refuge. You are welcome here.
-
Yes. While much of my work speaks directly to women navigating codependency and self-abandonment, these patterns aren't gendered. Over-functioning, people-pleasing, and struggles with assertiveness show up for men too.
Building self-trust, healthy boundaries, and a stronger relationship with yourself isn't limited to one gender either. These are adaptive patterns, not gender identities and I welcome male clients who see themselves in this work.
It has been my privilege to help men over the past decade with these and other issues. If what you see here speaks to you, I’d be honored to work with you.
Coaching Specific-
No. Coaching isn't a treatment for a medical or mental health condition, so it isn't billed to insurance and isn't eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement.
-
No. Coaching through this practice is available only to clients located outside Colorado. If you're a Colorado resident, therapy is the appropriate service for you here.
However, because this is a private-pay practice that doesn't bill insurance, you don't need a mental health diagnosis to begin therapy. Insurance-based practices often require a diagnosis to justify medical necessity for reimbursement. Since I don't work with insurance, our work together can focus on personal growth, relational patterns, and the depth-oriented work described on the Approach page, without that requirement.
Logistics-
This practice is virtual only, for both therapy and coaching. All sessions are held on Zoom, a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
-
The standard 50 minute session fee is $150. Extended 60-minute sessions are available and are prorated accordingly.
A sliding scale fee arrangement is available for those who need it, starting at $95. Please inquire.
Additional therapy and coaching service offerings are available at different rates; current pricing for all offerings will be provided at the time of scheduling.
-
Credit card and HSA/FSA card for therapy; credit card only for coaching and pre-paid sessions. For continuing clients, a card is kept securely on file and charged following each session.
-
Yes. Required documents must be completed and returned at least 24 hours before your first paid session, or the appointment will be canceled and payment will not be refunded.
Policies
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment are not charged. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance are charged the full session fee, except in cases of emergency.
What happens if I no-show?
No-shows are not eligible for a refund. A first no-show allows for one reschedule. A second no-show results in no refund and no further rescheduling offered. Free consultations that are no-showed are not rescheduled.
What's your policy on pre-paid sessions?
Pre-paid sessions require completed paperwork at least 24 hours in advance to be held. If paperwork isn't returned by that deadline, the session is canceled and the payment is non-refundable.
Can I get a refund if it's not the right fit?
Yes. If your paperwork is submitted on time and I determine, based on your assessment, that I'm not the right fit for your needs, your payment will be fully refunded, and I'll provide referrals and support resources.
